Myers Park Market Trending Upward?
categories: Myers Park

Myers Park is the clear winner over the last year for most home sales in the luxury market in 2009, beating out other South Charlotte luxury areas like SouthPark, Ballantyne and Weddington by 30% or more homes sold during the same period.  This is a bitter-sweet triumph for Myers Park homesellers: sweet because Myers Park is still an extremely desirable place to live, but bitter because home sales came in direct proportion to significant drops in home prices.   The chart below shows the decrease in inventory/homes for sale over the last 12 months in Myers Park.

The combination of lower home listing prices and interest rates remaining low over the last two years has resulted in a decrease of inventory or homes for sale because listings are being absorbed or purchased.  The chart below tracks the increase in Market Action, i.e. homes being purchased, as median home prices have fallen.  At 13 on the Market Action Index Myers Park is still strongly a Buyers Market.  (anything under 30 on the index)

Though still a Buyers Market in the region, Myers Park remains one of the most desirable communities to live in the country and current home prices make it a great time to buy or trade up in Myers Park.

Second Harvest Food Drive in Ballantyne
categories: Ballantyne, Events

Residents of Ballantyne and tenants of Ballantyne Corporate Park collected 3,336 pounds of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank in 2009.  This year Second Harvest needs help with their Back Pack program and Ballantyne Corporate Park is rising to the challenge by setting a goal of 5,000 pounds for this year’s drive.  The Food Bank fills back packs for needy children every Friday to send home with them over the weekend.

This event runs from May 5, 2010 through May 14, 2010.  There will be Blue donation barrels in the lobbies of almost all the buildings in Ballantyne Corporate Park.  You can drop off your donations in the barrels or if you prefer, bring them to the Brixham Green Tent on May 14th between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.  The Food Bank truck will arrive to pickup all donations at 3:00pm on May 14th.

The most needed Back Pack items are: 18oz. jars of peanut butter, the following canned items – tuna, chicken, fruit cocktail, ravioli, spaghetti-n-meatballs, pork-n-beans, peaches, vegetable soup.  Also breakfast bars, applesauce and pudding cup packs, boxes of macaroni and cheese, small plastic bottles of 100% juice and small boxes of cereal.

Start Date/Time:  Wednesday, May 05, 2010  8:30am
End Date/Time:    Friday, May 14, 2010  3:00pm
